Raffles Hotel Courtyard - Singapore

Raffles Hotel Courtyard - Singapore

Bill: If you have read all the previous pages, you will know that about a year before this we had flown to India to see the Ayurvedic doctor whose medicines I was now taking. Japan Airlines took us to New Delhi from Vancouver. They had stopped in Tokyo for 12 hours where they put all the passengers up at a very nice hotel with a fabulous breakfast buffet, all at their expense. That is a great way to travel half way around the world. The stop for some sleep really reduces the stress of the trip, and the jet lag.

On another trip to India, about 6 years before that, we took Malaysia Airlines. To New Delhi. They stopped for 8 hours in Kuala Lumpur and put us up in their hotel there. But, by the time we got our luggage and were transported to the hotel, we only had about 4 hours to rest before we had to leave for the airport again.

This trip we found that Singapore Airlines flew into Bangalore, which is only about 70 miles from Mysore, our destination. They put us up in one of their lovely hotels in Singapore for almost 24 hours, so we had a little time to look around.

We hadn’t been there since our hippy-days backpack trip around the world in 1971. Things had changed a whole lot! Gone were the row upon row of packed tenement buildings. In their place were massive high-rises. But, the hordes of people were still there, and still just as pleasant.
