If Not Evolution, What?
That was the question.
I wasn’t interested in the God of the Bible. I was told that if I didn’t measure up, I would burn in Hell for eternity. I could not follow a God who would torture someone forever, no matter how evil they had been.
I read about other religions such as Buddhism, but nothing really grabbed me. I read books about spiritualism. I read about the occult. I read books by, and about, prophets.
That last one kind of grabbed me. I really wanted to know what was going to happen. Many years ago, Sandra and I lived in Miami. I became very concerned about the direction the economy was going, read all kinds of gloom and doom articles, and convinced her that we should leave the city and move to somewhere in British Columbia, Canada, where I grew up, and “get back to the land.”
I continued to search, and finally decided that evolution was definitely not believable. So, that left the only other option – a creative power of some kind. I finally came to the conclusion that whatever had created things had moved on to something else and left us to stumble along until we managed to wipe ourselves out.
Well, the economy didn’t crash, and six years and two kids later we moved back to the city – Sarasota, Florida, to be exact. But, that’s another story.
